FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

1. WHAT DO THE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS LOOK LIKE?

Sleeping arrangements are always being monitored by staff. While we are backpacking, girls and guys are separated in sleeping arrangements on opposite sides of our camping site. During the second and third week we separate the sleeping arrangements according to what facilities we have 1. either guys and girls sleep in different rooms 2. if we are situated in a gymnasium there is a divider and girls and guys sleep on opposite sides of the room always monitored by staff.

2. HOW DO I HANDLE MEDICAL CONDITIONS AT TBA?

Please be sure to contact one of our nurses if you have any conditions that we should be aware off. All medication should be given to our nurses upon arrival at registration and administered by their care. If you are a parent worried about your child’s medical condition at TBA please be in STAFF medical team. This information will be given to you at registration.

3. WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT ALLERGIES?

Refer to the question above. Please let our nurse know of any food, drug, environmental, and or ANY and ALL allergies that require intervention.

4. HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED?

You will have received a letter of acceptance through email. Please always be on the lookout through your email.

5. WHAT IF I WANT TO PAY BY DEBIT/ CREDIT CARD?

ONLY if your child/teen/or student has received an acceptance email can you pay! Please be sure to have your credit card on hand and have the following ready to provide:

  • the name of the card holder

  • the credit card number

  • expiration date of the credit card

  • the verification code

  • the total amount for your child's or teen's TBA (indicated in acceptance email)

  • the mailing address for the card including zip code

  • the phone number of the person paying

  • the name of the teen that you are paying for

  • Lastly, don’t forget to provide your email address so that you may receive a receipt of the purchase.

6. TO PAY BY CHECK: Please ensure your full name and mailing address are on the check.

  • include your phone number and email address so that we can send you a payment of receipt

  • When writing the check, make the check payable to “Central California Conference” and in the memo of the check, write “Teen Bible Academy .” Don’t forget to include the full name of the student you are paying for.

  • Then send the check to:

7. CAN I OBTAIN A SCHOLARSHIP?

Yes, scholarships are available for students that have an absolute need and without financial help cannot obtain the means to go. Email kmiranda@cccscda.org

8. WHERE CAN I MAKE A DONATION?

To donate by phone via credit/debit card

Please be sure to have your credit or debit card on hand and have the following ready to provide:

·       the name of the card holder

·       the credit card number

·       expiration date of the credit card

·       the verification code

·       the total cost towards the teen's TBA fees (i.e. Early Bird Cost: $300 register by January 31st, 2024 (11:59 PM PST), $400 register by March 31st, 2024 (11:59 PM PST), $450 register by May 31st, 2024 (11:59 PM PST))

·       the mailing address for the card you are using the donate with—including zip code

·       your phone number

·       the full name of the teen that you are paying for

·       Lastly, don’t forget to provide your email address so that you may receive an email with the receipt of the purchase

9. HOW COLD DOES IT GET OUT WHILE BACKPACKING?

While we can estimate the weather conditions for our backpacking time in nature, we are always met with surprises- sometimes intense heat, rain, annoying mosquitos, and sometimes surprisingly perfect conditions. Our best recommendation is that you bring a REALLY GOOD sleeping bag for all weather. There is an answer to this further below.

10. HOW ARE STUDENTS ACCEPTED?

Students are accepted through a process of:

1. strength of application

2. interview

3. prayer from our staff and looking through our application and interview process

4. sending of acceptance letter. We prayerfully consider each applicant and desire for all to be able to attend.

11. DO I TAKE A TENT?

No, we do not recommend any students take tents. We enjoy the open air, under-the-stars experience of backpacking! Trust us, you’ll love it too!

12. CAN I BRING MY HAMMOCK?

Yes! You can bring your hammock, however we do not guarantee that you will be able to put it up depending on our site location and access to trees.

13. WHAT SLEEPING BAG AND BACKPACKING STOVE DO YOU RECOMMEND?

  • 15 degree or below weather

  • We highly highly highllyyyy recommend non-cotton sleeping bags, and instead, bring a down sleeping bag. Here is a good backpacking stove and bring gas for it as well.

14. MUST I BE AN ADVENTIST TO GO TO TBA?

Not at all! We welcome students from any background to attend! If you are want to know God on a deeper level, even with questions and all, this experience is for you!
